Mufaro: As an accounting student I have always put my mental health first. Being a student can be very emotionally draining. So I keep a balance by making videos on my YouTube channel. Giving myself a day off. Exercising and healthy eating is also very helpful for my mental health. My personal goals include getting my Youtube channel monetized, hoping it will grow and continue to make a positive influence. Working on my toxic traits. Learning Self love by learning to know my worth.
Mike: I fortunately have a couple of people that I can turn to when I’m feeling down, so they help a lot when it comes to taking care of my mental health. Besides that, I listen to a lot of inspirational feel good music, I occasionally feed my expensive habits i.e. shopping (that always makes me feel better) & I listen to a couple of inspirational podcasts.
Lauren: I've been working from home. I take short breaks throughout the day while working, even if it is for 5 minutes. It’s important to take a brief walk and get some air or move around to get your mind away from work. Honestly, I need to implement that more in my life, but I do make sure that I get a mental break from time to time. Also, praying helps me when I am really stressed.
Qyana: Things have been good for me over the past few months...I'm 6 months pregnant (!!), so I'm excited for this new chapter of my life. To be honest, the first few months of the pandemic was a nightmare. I didn't realize how much I enjoy being around people until we were forced to stay indoors. But now I'm in a better, more optimistic space and hopeful that this virus will be under control sometime next year so we can have some sort of normalcy back in our lives.
Lia: Honestly, the best thing I’ve done for my mental health during this time is be patient and gentle with myself. I was being super hard on myself after I lost my job but once I started looking at everything I have vs. what I didn't have, things started feeling better.
Muqbil: I am doing great. The pandemic has had its pros and cons in my life as it has in all people globally. I have managed a way for me to try and make the most out of my current situation. The first few weeks were a bit hard to deal with because of the new circumstances, but soon after, it became easier as time went on.
Kimberly: I’m undergoing a tremendous amount of pain during this time. This pandemic has kept me from being able to travel in order to stay by my father's bedside as he suffered alone and not being able to attend my father's burial. Thanks to COVID-19.
Corinna: All things considered, I am grateful to be doing well. I am healthy, heading into my third trimester of pregnancy. To be honest, maternal instincts are great at shifting focus to what REALLY counts: your personal and baby’s health and well-being.
